well, actually...

so you know when you're going through the check-out line at a deli or store, and the stuff you're buying is on the counter right next to the stuff the person in front of you is buying? so the cashier looks at you questioningly to see if you two are together or separate? well if the person in front of you is your significant other, i think a really awkward way to break up with them would be to loudly clarify to the cashier "oh no, we're not together," and then turn to your girlfriend or boyfriend and quietly say "but seriously..."
